Ontario grade school sex education

There is a growing concern amongst parents and teachers in Ontario with the controversial sex curriculum which is scheduled to be released through Kathleen Wynne’s government in September 2015.

A similar curriculum was proposed in 2010 under the McGuinty government, but was quickly rejected for being overtly graphic and not age appropriate. Benjamin Levin, Deputy Education Minister at the time, now convicted of child pornography, oversaw the development of this curriculum.

An example of the topics that the newly revised curriculum will teach include:

Grade 1: labeling male and female genitalia
Grade 3: the introduction and concept of gender identity
Grade 6: promotion of self-discovery through masturbation
Grade 7: the practices of anal and oral sex

In addition, the curriculum would teach children how to consent to sexual activity. President of the Canada Christian College, Charles McVety, made this statement recently, “...we abhor the premier announcing that Ontario’s teachers will be forced to teach little children how to give permission for that child to engage in sex...I don’t think it is legal to advise a child before the age of sixteen on how to give sexual consent.”

Article 26 (3) of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, says that, “parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.”

Many parents have been expressing grave concern regarding the curriculum. In spite of this the government seems to be edging forward with it.

If this type of curriculum is disturbing to you we invite you to join us in taking action.
